The Government collaborated with some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and decided to block all the websites containing pirated illegal content. That’s actually a good move; we shouldn’t encourage and recommend pirate content. But, the problem here is, sometimes they start to block the websites which don’t come under these. Maybe they look for a specific set of keywords and block the sites matching those, but that’s annoying, what’s the point of the internet if we can’t access them?
You’ll usually get a warning/error like this on your browser for restricted/blocked websites:
“Your requested URL has been blocked as per the directions received from Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. Please contact the administrator for more information.”
1. Download Opera Developer browser for your system.
2. Now, when you open a restricted website, you’ll get a warning/error like this:
Preferences > Privacy & Security > VPN > Enable both the options here.
4. That’s all you have to do. When you open the restricted websites now, this VPN will bypass that and allow you to access that. Here is an example:
We are not trying to access the Dark Web or anything illegal here; the ISPs accidentally block regular websites as well, this simple tweak will help you to overcome that and unblock.
You can probably use a VPN to fix this quickly, but if you don’t prefer opening a separate software for this everytime, then this is a cool option that you can do within your regular browser itself.
Do let us know how you access such websites and if you have any issues, do let us know as well.
